Browning 1886 Grade 1 Lever Action Saddle Ring Carbine in 45-70
This is a Browning 1886 Grade 1 Carbine in 45-70. It has a 22″ round barrel and full magazine tube sporting ladder barrel sight and blade front sight. It has standard walnut stocks, carbine butt plate, and barrel band on the fore stock. The left side of the bbl. is marked with Browning’s importer information above “MADE IN JAPAN”, followed by the cal. designation at the breech, with the model and cal. designations marked on the right. Upper receiver tang is marked “BROWNING MODEL 1886”. Receiver is mounted with its factory “SUPER/ SWIVELS” paper cover for the saddle ring. It come with a matching factory box.Condition:
This Browning 1886 Carbine is in near new condition. The metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the locking bolt, which is polished in-the-white, retaining virtually all of their original factory finishes overall Is as new and in excellent condition. The plain wood straight grip buttstock and forend are in excellent condition as well. Mirror bore, exhibiting original grease in the bore. It appears that this carbine was never used or if so was used very little This carbine comes with original matching factory box and manual, The box is in fine condition and shows some light exterior wear from handling and storage but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. These carbines were made in 1992 and do not have those stinking tang safeties or rebounding hammers which the current production has. In our opinion, they are as close as you can get to a modern version of the original Winchester 1886 carbine. Since they are made with modern steel they are capable of hard use in the field with full load 45-70 ammunition. This one is near new and they are not often found in this condition. These Browning 1886 Grade 1 rifles and carbines of this vintage are not only in demand but are becoming collectable.
